Lorenzo Forteleoni is an interior designer and custom millwork designer with experience in both residential and commercial projects. Prior to founding Sumisura Design in Miami, he honed his skills with several architecture and design firms.
Lorenzo derives his unique creative vision from a lifelong passion for design — industrial, architectural, graphic, fashion, et al. — influenced by a geographically diverse upbringing. The cultural gamut of having lived in New England, Northern Italy, and South Florida, continues to inform his projects.
Along his academic and professional path, Lorenzo has developed an appreciation for the interdisciplinary nature of the design process. Getting to know a client, their likes and dislikes, and their vision is the best approach toward a successful project. A strong believer in concept, Lorenzo knows that interior design is all about telling a story — connecting the dots between material selections, lighting, furniture, and art.
Lorenzo’s formal design training as well as his reverence for modernist luminaries — such as Walter Gropius, Charles and Ray Eames, Ralph Twitchell, Dieter Rams, Barbara Kruger, and Rei Kawakubo, to name a few — add layered nuance to his work. Collectively, all of these inspirations inform a dynamic approach to the exploration of interior space that defines Lorenzo as an industry innovator.
